Khajuria, VCs, AG, Sair-e-Milaap team call on Governor

SRINAGAR, July 30: Member of Legislative Assembly, Vice-Chancellors of SKUAST-K and Kashmir University, Accountant General and Sair-e-Milaap team today called on Governor N N Vohra at Raj Bhawan here.
Ashok Khajuria, Member Legislative Council briefed the Governor about certain developmental issues in the three regions of the State. The Governor urged Mr Khajuria to vigorously pursue all growth related issues relating to his area.
Dr Tej Pratap, Vice Chancellor, Sher-i-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology-Kashmir discussed with the Governor certain issues about the need to secure the rapid growth of Krishi Vigyan Kendras and the steps which have been initiated for ensuring that the KVKs perform a definite role in enhancing agricultural production and productivity in the State.
The Governor urged the VC to ensure that the Varsity plays a vital role in promoting agricultural production and particular attention is paid to the regeneration of senile orchards through high density plantations.
Dr Khurshid Andrabi, Vice-Chancellor, University of Kashmir briefed the Governor about the to-date status of the ongoing academic and co-curricular activities of the University and highlighted certain issues relating to the staff strengthening and its positioning.
The Governor stressed the importance of maintaining a disciplined environment in the Campus for achieving excellence in the academic and co-curricular arenas.
Hoveyda Abbas, Accountant General (Audit), briefed the Governor about the areas of State Government functioning which had been audited during 2013-14-15 and the continuing efforts towards the promotion of a transparent framework of policy, rules and regulations for encouraging efficiency and accountability in the entire administrative apparatus.
The Governor discussed with Mr Abbas the need for all required steps being taken to secure the maintenance of financial probity and fiscal discipline in the entire governmental machinery.
“Sair-e- Milaap” team, a group of 6 civilians from Poonch and 6 Army personnel, who are on a Motorcycle Expedition organized by 39 RR under the leadership of Maj B S Bisht, informed the Governor that the expedition has been launched to promote adventure sports and with the aim of promoting better mutual understanding about the problems and difficulties which are being faced by people who belong to different regions of J&K.
The group informed the Governor that during their 9 days Expedition they would cover 1100 km from Poonch to Zojila and back. The Governor advised the group to visit schools en route and hold interactions with the students to enthuse them with spirit of adventure sports. He presented a memento to the Expedition and wished them success.
