Power supply restored in 500 flood-hit villages of Gujarat

The power supply has been restored in over 500 villages of Saurashtra and Kutch in last 24 hours and power restoration work is on.

RAJKOT: The power supply has been restored in over 500 villages of Saurashtra and Kutch in last 24 hours and power restoration work is on.
According to sources in Paschim Gujarat Vij Company Ltd (PGVCL), which distribute powers in Saurashtra and Kutch regions, the rains have taken halt and it will help them speed up the power restoration work in both the regions.

“Now, there are 279 villages without power and we are hopeful that most of the villages will get power till Friday morning’’ said an official from PGVCL.
“There are 282 teams working relentlessly in Morbi, Kutch and Surendranagar for power restoration and 135 new teams haved joined in this work from Thursday on fields with all necessary material and equipment’’ said a senior PGVCL official.
Earlier on Tuesday about 1000 villages in three districts were powerless. Kutch, Morbi and Surendranagar districts have been worst affected due to heavy rains and blowing winds.
Those villages which have no electricity supply include 80 villages from Morbi, 173 from Kutch and 26 from Surendranagar district.
