HYDERABAD: ACB sleuths trapped a sub-inspector of Medchal police station on Thursday while he was allegedly accepting Rs 8,000 bribe to release the complainant's car seized in an accident case.
Based on the complaint lodged by a medical shop owner from Adilabad, Abdul Razak, an ACB team laid a trap at Medchal police station and caught G Ramulu, 32, red-handed while he was pocketing the bribe money in his chambers.

According to ACB, Ramulu, a native of Rayapole village in Mahbubabad mandal of Medak district, had demanded the bribe to release the complainant's Hyundai Eon Era Plus car (TS 01 EA 7480), seized in a fatal road accident case registered at Medchal police station on June 4, 2015.
On June 4, Razak had given the car to his driver Ameer Khan to drop home some of his relatives in Hyderabad. At Medchal, the car rammed into a bike and the rider, who sustained fatal injuries, succumbed on June 7. Since then, the car was at Medchal police station.
When Razak approached Ramulu to release the car, the latter demanded Rs 10,000 bribe. "Ramulu asked Razak to bring the bribe amount and take the car. On July 28, Razak lodged a complaint with us and a trap was laid on July 30," the DSP said.
