Madison Square Garden Welcomes U2, Madonna And Billy Joel Over Next Two Months

This article is more than 8 years old.

It is called The World's Most Famous Arena for a reason. Madison Square Garden has hosted the most popular musicians and athletes of all time. In the next couple of months, MSG will provide a stage for a handful of the world’s most famous artists, including Hall of Famers like Billy Joel and breakouts like J. Cole. The upcoming shows are some the most sought-after concert tickets of the summer. Below is a list of four upcoming events at Madison Square Garden, with pricing information provided by Ticketmaster.

In addition to listing any primary tickets still available, Ticketmaster’s Ticket Exchange option is available for the purchase of verified secondary market tickets, and allows fans to resell their previously-purchased tickets directly through the Ticketmaster site. Users are also able to utilize the seating chart map to identify the specific resale seats to make the most ideal purchase.

U2 | July 30, 31 | Get-in Prices: $211, $215

U2 will be wrapping up their major iNNOCENCE + eXPERIENCE tour at Madison Square Garden with two sold-out shows, and it’s a fitting way to go out for the Irish rock band, who collectively will play eight shows in the Big Apple. The last time the band saw the NYC-metropolitan area was actually in 2011 for their 360 Tour. During that stop, a secondary ticket price to see U2 in East Rutherford, NJ had an average price of $290.09, with a get-in of $67. For the final two shows on iNNOCENCE + eXPERIENCE, the get-in ticket price is $211 on July 30 and $215 for July 31.

J. Cole | Aug. 4 | Get-in Price: $57

J. Cole’s sold-out Madison Square Garden show will be a special one for the rapper. Not only is it his first headlining MSG show, it proves the rapper has truly made his dream come true. J. Cole moved to NYC years ago as a college kid to attend St. John's University in Queens by day, but his real motivation was to break out in the rap world. With his upcoming show at MSG, the rapper has definitely accomplished that. J. Cole’s last appearance at the Garden was in 2014 for his What Dreams May Come tour, and the get-in ticket price was $185. This tour, his sold-out date currently has a secondary ticket get-in price of $57.

Billy Joel | Aug. 20 | Get-in Price: $87

There are few artists who cherish Madison Square Garden the same way that Billy Joel does. On July 1, the singer played Madison Square Garden for the 65th time, breaking the record for solo performances previously held by Elton John. Joel made his MSG debut in 1978, the year he released his chart-topping album 52nd Street. Last year, he began a monthly residency at the Garden that is slated to continue into 2016. For his August 20 show at MSG, the get-in price for Billy Joel tickets is $87.

Madonna | Sept. 16, 17 | Get-in Price: $114, $141

The Queen of Pop is set to hit the road on September 9, and “The Rebel Heart” tour will swing into MSG for two dates on September 16 and 17. Madonna’s “The Rebel Heart” tour is in support of her thirteenth studio album, which she released in March. Madonna's MDNA tour in 2012 grossed $305 million and moved 2.2 million tickets to 88 shows.  That year, it was the highest grossing tour. The MDNA tour is the last time the singer played MSG, and during those two dates, the average ticket price to see Madonna was $513 on the first night and $597 on the second night. Currently, the get-in price to see Madonna at MSG is $114 for the first night and $141 for the second night, with averages of $436 and $612, respectively.

Of all the upcoming acts at MSG, U2 has the highest get-in price currently. Madonna isn’t too far behind the rock band, as given both of their histories breaking records and setting even more massive ones, their ticket prices aren’t a huge surprise. Fans can probably expect Billy Joel tickets to increase into 2016, and big things are in store for rapper J. Cole, who has grown a massive fan base in a very short period of time.
