FLOWOOD, Miss. (AP) - Flowood police say a missing woman whose body was found last month on the banks of the Pearl River died of an accidental drug overdose.
Police Investigator Ricky McMillian says in a statement that Jessica Hewitt’s death was attributed to a mixed drug toxicity that included Suboxone and methamphetamine.
The 29-year-old Hewitt was reported missing by her family on June 14, after she did not pick up her child from day care. Authorities found her car the next day. Her body was found June 16 in a grassy area near the river - a little less than a mile east of the levee in Flowood.
McMillian says because there were no signs of trauma to the body, the police are closing the case and no charges will be filed.
