Wannabe 'netajis' on rise at MSU campus
VADODARA: It seems there is a sudden surge of wannabe 'netajis' at M S University campus.
Five MSU employees including a peon to an assistant accountant have sought permission from the university authorities to contest in the forthcoming elections of Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC).
Just last month, MSU's syndicate members had given permission to Nikul Patel, a teacher of Faculty of Technology and Engineering, to contest the ensuing polls of the civic body.

Patel had written a letter requesting permission from the university which was granted by the syndicate members during their meeting on June 9. Ahead of this month's syndicate meeting, the university has received request letters from five other employees.
Paresh Tadvi, an assistant accountant from Poltytechnic College, Vinod Patel, a studio assistant at professor C C Mehta auditorium and Mahesh Vasava, a boating trainer at the Department of Physical Education, have sought permission from the university to contest in the forthcoming polls.
Apart from them, Hasmukh Rana, a plumber at the Halls of Residence (hostels) and Rajendra Tadvi, who works as a peon at Faculty of Performing Arts, have also sought university's permission before jumping in the poll fray.
Sources in the university suggest that it is for the first time that the university has received so many applications seeking permission to contest in the local body elections.
During their meeting, the syndicate members will also consider a proposal to hire services of four ex-army and ex-policemen on consolidated monthly salary of Rs 10,000 on contractual basis for eleven months. The minutes of the higher payment advisory board will be also placed before the members for their approval.
