CLAYTON, Mo. (AP) - Relatives of a suburban St. Louis man killed by a hit-and-run vehicle are angry after the driver received probation.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch (https://bit.ly/1DPmS7b ) reports that 55-year-old Yelena Pelts of Chesterfield was sentenced Wednesday for the February 2014 accident that killed 41-year-old Roy Joseph of Chesterfield.
Pelts struck Joseph with her minivan. His body was found off the road in snow the next morning. Pelts was arrested about a week later.
Pelts’ attorney says she is remorseful and thought she had hit an animal or road sign.
One relative of Joseph called the sentence “a travesty of justice.”
