Jordan Ayew was impressive in the 13 minutes of his first match for Aston Villa in an enthralling game of football at Molineux – and fans got their first chance to see the Ghana striker in claret and blue on Tuesday night.

Villa drew 2-2 with Wolves in the penultimate pre-season friendly before the real action begins against Bournemouth a week on Saturday but fans of the club got to see their Ghanaian striker in action for the first time.

Ayew signed for Villa on Monday from French side Lorient and was thrown into action just 24 hours later as they faced Wolves in the friendly.

Libor Kozak staked a claim for a starting berth with both goals against the old gold and black, led by boss Kenny Jackett.

But it was another striker who fans were looking out for in this evening fixture.

Ayew warmed up on the sidelines under the watchful eye of Mark Robson and Tony Parks before the new boy was summoned for action.

Ironically his introduction came moments after Kozak had completed his brace.

Ayew looked lively and bright as he aimed to impress Tim Sherwood.

The striker himself admitted to AVTV HD that he felt 85% on the eve of the game so this cameo – plus more training and another friendly at the City Ground on Saturday – should set him up nicely for the Cherries clash on the opening weekend of the season.
