Special Olympics: Odisha boy brings gold for country in 200m

Odisha boy Rajesh Meher bagged Gold medal in 200-metre and silver in 400-metre running events at the Special Olympics World Games 2015 in Los Angeles.

BHUBANESWAR: Odisha boy Rajesh Meher bagged Gold medal in 200-metre and silver in 400-metre running events at the Special Olympics World Games 2015 in Los Angeles. The event was on Wednesday evening in the Southern California city.
Disclosing this here, Special Olympics Bharat Area Director (Odisha Chapter) Prakash Kumar Rath said Meher is an intellectually disabled. The 13-year-old is pre-vocational a student of Physically Handicapped School, Bargarh, 350 km from Bhubaneswar.

A native of Jamla village in Bargarh district, Rajesh has own medals in national level games. "It is a proud moment for all of us. Rahesh has proved that disability is no hurdle to win laurels," said Meghanad Pradhan, his local coach and teacher of the Bargarh school.
