MOUNTAIN GATE, Calif. (AP) - Shasta County officials say two men are in critical condition after a butane-honey oil explosion inside a Mountain Gate home.

The Record Searchlight reports (https://bit.ly/1MyNcdP ) the two men had already gone to the hospital when deputies arrived at the house Wednesday.

Sgt. Barry Powell says that deputies saw evidence of a recent fire and a butane-honey oil operation inside a room at the home.

Powell says 24-year-old Adam Kurdi and 25-year-old Christian Schollenberger are suspects in the case and both were flown to UC Davis’ burn center for treatment.

He says deputies got a warrant to search the home and found more evidence of the illegal extraction of concentrated cannabis from marijuana using butane, including multiple marijuana extraction tubes, processed marijuana and 44 growing marijuana plants.
