Cape Town - Following the incredible success of his latest album launch, South Africa’s highly-favoured son of Hip Hop, ProVerb, is bringing The Read Tape to Cape Town.
On Saturday, 1 August 2015, ProVerb will be launching The Read Tape at The Imperial Bar and Café in Cape Town - in an exclusive and live performance of his latest work in the Mother City.

Channel24 caught up with the man himself to tell us more about his latest album and what we can expect on Saturday.
C24: What can we expect from your latest album, The Read Tape?
ProVerb: It's my fifth studio album over 10 years of experience. I'm 10 years older and I've learnt a lot being in this industry so people can expect a wholesome, positive and uplifting album.
C24: Your album is called, The Read Tape, can you tell us more about the title?
ProVerb: It comes from the idiom "red tape", referring to restriction, limitation or rigid conformity; The Read Tape is anything but rigid.
I'm a wordsmith and author and break all boundaries that defies the limitations with this album. A tape is also synonymous with old school, I'm a 90s kid so there's a lot of that type of influences in this album.
C24: What inspired your album?
ProVerb: Besides being a 90s kid, I would have to say the way I am as a person. I am a husband and a dad so I'm influenced by everyone around me. All of those influences shaped who I am today.
C24: What is your favourite song on the album and why?
ProVerb: That's a very difficult question, but if I really had to pick one, it would be Penultimate, which is the second last song. My whole album is very personal but I would have to say that one is the most personal.
C24: So if you were in a rap battle and had to pick one of these artists on your team, who would you choose? Nicki Minaj or Lil Kim?
ProVerb: Lil Kim
C24: Drake or Meek Mill?
ProVerb: Drake - because I know more of his songs.
C24: Cassper or AKA?
ProVerb: Hmm, I'll take both. I would want both on my side.
C24: Anybody you would like to still collaborate with?
ProVerb: That's easy, Hugh Masekela.
C24: What can Cape Town expect from your upcoming performance?
ProVerb: Nothing but raw energy. I'll be drawing from my 10-year-catalogue so expect a lot of punchlines, metaphors, similes, lyrical wizardry, poetry, thought-provoking content, flows, interesting and refreshing production that will satisfy both purists and the new school. I love performing in Cape Town, the hip hop culture is rich and the mother city loves to rock.
