UNITED Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) has granted Special Consultative Status to Development Generation Africa International (DGAi) a Nigerian non-governmental organisation (NGO) which has its head office in Umuahia, Abia state capital.

Development Generation Africa International (DGAi) is a youth-led NGO with focus on children, youth and women development through skill-based training, capacity building and education geared towards the achievement of sustainable development.

The grant was sequel to ECOSOC adoption of the recommendation made to it by its Committee on Non Governmental Organization at Coordination and Management Meeting held on July 2015.

In the letter conveying the grant of the Consultative Status to DGAi, which was signed by ECOSOC Acting Chief (NGO Branch Office for ECOSOC Support and Coordination Department of Economic and Social Affairs -United Nations, Alberto Padova, it was stated that “the Consultative Status will enable DGAi to actively engage with ECOSOC and its subsidiary bodies, as well as with the United Nations Secretariat.”
