12 minors rescued

Twelve minors including eight girls were rescued by the police from a passenger bus at Mohana in Gajapati district on Wednesday, while they were being trafficked outside Odisha.

Three persons involved in the human trafficking including one from Tamil Nadu were nabbed by police. The children were tracked down following a tip off received by Berhampur Childline.

After receiving the information, Childline authorities alerted Mohana police station.

According to Sudhir Sabat of Childline, the rescued children were from remote pockets of Gajapati district and they had been lured by the promise of employment with high wages.
