Visakhapatnam: A City Task Force team led by inspector Syed Mohammad Eliyas intercepted a Tata Ace van near Kurmannapalem toll gate on Monday night and arrested a smuggler and seized 21 kg of dry ganja, which was packed in a special fabricated box under the driver’s seat.
Smuggler Bhukya Balaji, 24, said that he had procured the contraband stuff from one G. Suribabu of Koduru in V Madugula mandal of Vizag district and was transporting it to Warangal district.
Balaji of Mogilicherla in Warnagal district had come in contact with Suribabu about a year ago and since then he had been in the trade. In another incident, the Araku Valley police seized 65 kgs ganja and arrested seven persons when the smugglers were transporting the contraband in a car. The cops said that they are investigating the case.
