A team led by the Kattakada Circle Inspector, C.L. Manoj Chandran, on Tuesday arrested Aneesh alias Kuttai, 28, after a Technopark employee accused him of sexually abusing her after promising to marry her.

The accused, an employee of a bank at Karamana, is a professional cricketer having played State-level cricket matches, the police said.

According to Mr. Manoj Chandran, a complaint was first lodged with the Poojapura police a couple of months ago and later transferred to Malayinkeezhu, following which the accused went absconding. The police then sought the help of the Cyber cell to trace him and he was finally nabbed on Tuesday from Sasthamangalam.

The police said the woman, working with an IT firm in Technopark, had accused him of maintaining a relationship with her for several months and raping her at a house at Thachottukavu.

She lodged the complaint when she heard that he was preparing to marry another woman. Aneesh was produced in court and remanded in judicial custody on Wednesday.
