Governor pays respects

The mortal remains of former President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam reached Madurai airport in an IAF plane around 12.45 p.m. on Wednesday and were transported by an IAF chopper to Mandapam.

Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar received the mortal remains at a helipad.

At the Madurai Airport, Governor K. Rosaiah paid respects to the mortal remains. Minister for Cooperation ‘Sellur’ K. Raju, Chief Secretary K. Gnanadesikan, Collector L. Subramanian, Mayor V.V. Rajan Chellappa and Corporation Commissioner C. Kathiravan paid homage at the airport.
