LEH, July 29: The book titled ‘Achievements of the Fourth Hill Council, 2011-2015’ published by Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council, Leh through Information Department, Leh was released by the 14th Dalai Lama, Gyalwang Stanzin Gyatso during a State luncheon hosted in his honour by Hill Council, Leh at Sindhu Sanskriti Kendra, here today.
Addressing the gathering, Dalai Lama reiterated that being the Buddhist of 21st century every Buddhist must make it imperative to read lots of book to understand the core objective of Buddhist philosophy, then experiment and put it in action rather than just going by blind faith and devotion. He stressed on maintaining peace, harmony and brotherhood among every community along with developmental advances.
Stressing for the need for inner mental development along with physical development, he said that now few scientists even began to realize that that ultimate source of real happiness comes from our mind.
The editor of the book, Rinchen Dolma, said that this publication is an important step towards transparency in governance with an aim to provide access to information. She asserted that this book is a collective effort put in by a dedicated team including Delex Namgyal (KAS) as coordinator, Sunetro Ghosal as consulting editor, Namgyal Tsaskhan as photographer and Rahul Chhokkun as the layout designer.
“The book was made possible with the support and guidance of every head of the departments led by DC, Leh, Saugat Biswas and Chairman, LAHDC, Rigzin Spalbar,” she mentioned.
Speaking on the occasion, CEC, LAHDC Leh, Rigzin Spalbar, mentioned briefly about the contains of book which includes the mega city beautification project, improvement in education sector in Government school, shift of Hill Council focus from infrastructure development to agriculture sector for sustainable development.
Officiating Deputy Commissioner, RK Badyal, presented the vote of thanks on the occasion.
Meanwhile, the much awaited Ladakh Pegon Yarchos Chenmo (Summer Buddhist Council) organized by Pethub Galdan Targaisling Monastery began with much religious fervor and gaiety.
The function began with His Holiness lighting the tradition lamp offering followed by tiny-tots student singing Mangalacharan. The fortnight Buddhist councils are aimed to impart moral educations to student through debate and discussion apart from the regular academic information and scientific knowledge.
As per the aspiration of His Holiness Dalai Lama, such kind of Council is being held for the first time Ladakh where student and monks will share a common platform to interact with each other to exchange information and knowledge. Dalia Lama visited Ladakh to inaugurate the summer Council.
In the inaugural session, monks from various monasteries and students from various schools debated over various topics.
Stressing for the need for embedding the moral and culture values among younger generation Dalai Lama in his inaugural speech said that due to lack of moral education the cases of suicide tendency among younger generation increase in the society. Citing an example of lady advocate performing better in her profession after attending number of such debates session Dalai Lama stressed for the need for organizing such council at regular interval where student and monks can debate to have better understanding of lesson and added that such debate enhance the learning capacity which not only for Buddhist but for all religion and faith said Dalai Lama.
The Gaden Tripa Ridzong Rinpochey in his speech stressed upon learning the lesson thoroughly then practically make use of the learning in our day to day life to become good human being.
LAHDC CEC Rigzin Spalbar, State Cooperative Minister Chering Dorjay, Geshes Thupstan Rabgyas and organizing committee head Geshes Konchok Wangdus also addressed the gathering during the inaugural session this morning.
