Dead body of missing driver recovered

POONCH, July 29: The dead body of a missing driver from Nishat area of Srinagar, was recovered from a deep gorge near Pir Ki Gali on Mughal Road today.
A senior police officer giving details said that the body of had almost turned into skelton and was lying in a deep gorge. A shepherd while grazing his cattle noticed the body and wreckage of a vehicle lying near a big boulder and he reported the matter to some other people. Then they gave a message to police party of Behramgalla near Bafliaz in Surankote.
Later, a police party led by SDPO Surankote Riaz Tantray and SHO reached the spot and with the help of NDRF men and locals they managed to reach into nearly 2000 feet deep gorge and shifted it to Surankote hospital. It was kept there as unclaimed. Then message was flashed to various Police Stations. It was later discovered that it could be the body of a Tavera driver from Nishat area of Kashmir who went missing on December 8, 2014 when he had gone to Rajouri to drop passengers.
The police and family members had failed to trace the body and the vehicle despite intensive search along Mughal Road. Then due to heavy snowfall in winters the road was closed.
The SDPO Mr Tantray said that he managed to find out the Chasis number and registration number of the vehicle and then contacted RTO Srinagar. It was discovered that Tavera Vehicle No. JK01T/ 1112 went missing along with driver Shabir Ahmed Rather (26), son of Ghulam Hassan Rather when he had gone to Rajouri from Srinagar to via Mughal Road to drop passengers. He then left for Srinagar at around 8.30 pm. The driver took tea near Chandimarh and then started for Srinagat from there at around 10 pm alone. There after he met with accident near Kukar Morh just 2 kms short of Pir Ki Gali and went missing. It is deep snow clad gorge and no body could imagine that accident had taken place there. A shepherd today helped in tracing the body. Some flesh is still visible on the body due to snow while it has almost reduced into skelton. The body has been kept in Surankote hospital and it would handed over to the family tomorrow morning after performing legal formalities. He said it was not possible to pull out vehicle from the deep gorge.
