The high court on Wednesday directed the State government to ensure that no official serves in the Lokayukta institution for more than two years.

While hearing a petition filed by a professor from Mandya Medical College, Dr V L Nandish, challenging the delay in Lokayukta investigation against him, Justice A N Venugopala Gowda also directed the State government to fill up at least 50 per cent of the vacancies in the anti-corruption body within 45 days.

Justice Gowda directed Additional Advocate General (AAG) A S Ponnanna to furnish the list of officials serving in the anti-corruption body for several years.

“Details like how many years have they served in a single place in the institute should be furnished. Some thing have been done to deepen the roots. There should be new faces. One corruption case is equal to a hundred murder cases. I hope you will follow the directions of this court, failing to it, we will ask the registrar to furnish details,”said Justice Gowda.
