Engie H1 Profit Falls 56%

Engie, formerly called GDF Suez, said Wednesday that its first-half 2015 net profit fell 56% to €1.1 billion from €2.51 billion a year earlier.

Net recurring income for the first-half declined 12% to €1.8 billion.

The company's first-half 2015 revenue fell 2% year-over-year to €38.5 billion, mainly due to lower commodity prices, outages at the Doel 3 and Tihange 2 nuclear power plants and the shutdown of the Doel 1 nuclear power plant in Belgium.

Engie confirmed its 2015 earnings guidance for a net recurring income of €2.85 billion to €3.15 billion.

Engie said it has reached an agreement with the Belgian government on Doel 1 & 2 extension & nuclear contribution.
