LUCKNOW: Two days after leading a massive protest in the city against corruption in the
Shia Wakf Board, Shia cleric
Maulana Kalbe Jawad courted arrest along with four other clerics again on Wednesday.
Reiterating his demand for CBI probe into corruption in the wakf board, Jawad police lathicharge on his supporters, including women, during protest on Monday. The cleric along with Maulana Raza Husain, Maulana Iftekhar Husain, Maulana Feroz Husain and Maulana Ali Abbas Khan, was arrested and taken to Banthra police station.
They were released later.
Meanwhile, the
All India Sunni Board gave a memorandum to
chief minister against Jawad’s agitation. “Protests happening each day in the Old City by a certain group causes inconvenience to all residents. This should be stopped or we will be forced to assemble at Nadan Mahal park on August 7 with massive strength,” said board president
Maulana Mohammad Mushtaq.
