Concerned over the rising cases of road accidents in the state, the Odisha government has decided to cancel the driving licences of individuals booked for three road accidents in one year.
Sources in the state transport department said that at a recent meeting it was decided that that the Regional Transport Offices (RTOs) will be given a list of serial offenders —who have violated traffic rules over the last three years — by the Inspector General (IG) of the state CID. The data will then be entered into the transport department’s SARATHI software database and used to keep track of the drivers involved in road accidents.
