The Canadian hotel industry reported positive results in the three key performance metrics during the week of 12-18 July 2015, according to data from STR, Inc.
In year-over-year comparisons, occupancy increased 0.7% to 76.1%. Average daily rate for the week was up 6.7% to CAD$152.23. Revenue per available room increased 7.5% to CAD$115.77.
Among the provinces, Prince Edward Island reported the largest increase in occupancy, up 6.9% to 92.8%.
Alberta experienced the steepest decline in occupancy, down 9.1% to 66.6%.
British Columbia reported the largest increases in ADR (+15.9% to CAD$183.10) and RevPAR (+21.3% to CAD$155.91).
Two additional provinces posted double-digit RevPAR growth for the week: Prince Edward Island (+13.6% to CAD$145.99) and Ontario (+11.8% to CAD$108.12).
Saskatchewan was the only province to report a decrease in ADR, down 3.9% to CAD$128.08.
Alberta experienced the largest decrease in RevPAR, down 7.5% to CAD$108.20.
