Govt sanctions Rs 429.24cr to install CCTVs in 62 cities
BHOPAL: Madhya Pradesh government on Tuesday decided to install CCTVs to monitor all sensitive areas of 62 cities and towns in the state. According to minister for health and government’s spokesperson Narottam Mishra, cabinet sanctioned Rs 429.24 crore under 12th Five Year Plan to install CCTV surveillance in Bhopal, Indore, Gwalior, Jabalpur, Sagar, Dewas, Bina, Khandwa, Neemuch, Narsinghpur, Vidisha, Datia, Betul, Mandla, holy cities of Omkareshwar, Maheshwar, Ujjain and tourist destination towns Orchha, Sanchi, Bandhavgarh, Khajuraho, Bhimbhetka and Bhojpur.

Earlier, state cabinet which gathered under the chairmanship of chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan paid homage to late President APJ Abdul Kalam. “Dr Kalam’s life was dedicated to service of the nation,” chief minister Chouhan said. “This country will always remember his contribution towards making India a power to reckon with in the global forums. Dr Kalam always said that dreams are not what you see when you are asleep – dreams are that which you cannot sleep without fulfilling,” the chief minister told his cabinet members.
Chouhan and his cabinet colleagues also expressed profound grief over the deaths of innocent citizens and police personnel killed in the Gurdaspur terror attacks on Monday.
Though the state is observing seven-day national mourning to pay homage to Dr Kalam, the government departments worked as on a regular day. Cabinet too met and held its meeting taking several major decisions. Asked why the government did not declare to keep the secretariat closed for a day, minister for health and government spokesman Narottam Mishra said, “Former President Abdul Kalam had once said that he would want to nation to work more on the day of his demise and we followed that instruction of his.”
State cabinet decided to start two medical colleges in Datia and Khandwa with a hundred MBBS seats while district hospitals there will be expanded to accommodate 500-beds for patients. Cabinet sanctioned Rs 158.5 crore and Rs 172.21 crore for setting-up the medical colleges in Datia and Khandwa respectively.
In yet another decision, cabinet sanctioned setting-up of 26 new government ITIs (industrial training institutes) in the state. Places selected include Banda of Sagar, Barwara under Barhi tahsil of Katni, Majhauli in Sidhi, Sardarpur, Gandhwani, Bakaner (Umarwan) and Dahi in Dhar, Thandla, Meghnagar and Rama in Jhabua, Sondwa in Alirajpur, Bhikangaon and Gogawan in Khargone, Sendhwa, Rajpur, Theerkri and Pansemal in Barwani, Bajna in Ratlam, Karahal in Sheopur, Pali No. 1 Gohparu in Shahdol district, Bhim Nagar and Shahpur in Betul, Harrai in Chhindwara, Bichhiya in Mandla, Birsa in Balaghat and Bhabhra’s Chandrashekhar Azad Nagar in Alirajpur distirct.
