On Tuesday, Banaras Hindu University vice-chancellor Prof GC Tripathi raided the Sir Sunder Lal Hospital of Institute of Medical Science of BHU and caught six touts red handed there.

VARANASI: On Tuesday, Banaras Hindu University vice-chancellor Prof GC Tripathi raided the Sir Sunder Lal Hospital of Institute of Medical Science of BHU and caught six touts red handed there.
Following the incident the VC ordered the varsity proctorial board to continue this drive on regular basis and also issued a circular banning the entry of medical representatives of pharmaceutical companies in Outdoor Patient Department (OPD) of the hospital.

The VC, along with a team of officials raided the OPD in afternoon and found some suspicious looking persons at medicine and surgery wards of the OPD.
On being checked it was found that these persons were carrying old prescriptions and reports of hospital to justify their presence there. The officials caught six touts and handed them over to the university proctorial board.
After collecting their whereabouts the proctorial board has instructed them to never enter the hospital in future.
The VC has issued strict instructions to medical superintendent of hospital Prof kailash Kumar and chief proctor Prof Satyendra Singh to continue such drives against touts on regular basis to make the hospital free from the menace.
Later, on the directives of the VC, the medical superintendent and also the director of IMS-BHU issued a joint circular to ban the entry of medical representatives of pharmaceutical companies in OPD. The officials made it very clear that medical representative can meet doctors in their chambers only after taking prior permission. The VC said these measures are being initiated to make the hospital campus free from unwanted elements.
