Four of a family die of suspected food poisoning in Chennai

Four people of a family at the Seven Wells locality in north Chennai died in the early hours of Monday after consuming food, which the police suspect was poisoned, on Saturday night.

Nandakumar (58) used to a run a fancy store. He used to live with his wife Kalaivani , son Purushothaman alias Vinod, mother Janaki, brother Sundaramurthy, mother-in-law Sivakami and her sister Lalitha.

“On Sunday morning all of them fell unwell, after taking idli , dosa and pepper-water rice, but only Nandakumar went to the doctor. Early on Monday, their health deteriorated and Lalitha died in the house,” said a police officer.
