Having fallen to their second loss against Canada the previous day, the women bounced back with an 8-7 round robin win over China.
Skip Eve Muirhead, who missed a chance to seal the win against Canada, made amends by clinching the result with the final stone to lift them up to joint fourth with five games left.
Muirhead said: "I'm really glad I managed to play a great shot to finish. It was always going to be a tight match as China are a top, top team.
"I felt good out there. Myself and the girls stepped it up. We got a good solid performance, which will really lift us." Canada continued their unbeaten start with victories over Denmark and Switzerland, with second-placed Sweden also defeating the same two sides.
The day's other two games saw South Korea and the United States beat Russia and Japan.
Meanwhile Britain's mens curlers moved up to joint second behind unbeaten China after beating the United States 5-3 for their fourth win in five.
Men's captain David Murdoch said: "That was just a commanding performance and I think we really dominated them from start to finish. We were aggressive in the first five ends, got our lead and were clinical after that.
"We are drawing really well and were getting our rocks in perfect spots and causing them all sorts of trouble. There was some great shot-making today."
Britain are tied with Sweden who beat Norway 5-4 with Russia and reigning champions Canada also posting single-point wins over Switzerland and Denmark respectively.
