Medak district has great memories of former President of India A.P.J. Abdul Kalam.
Way back on August 15, 2007, Mr. Kalam addressed a huge gathering of students at Ambedkar Stadium in the district headquarters.
A large number of student and officials competed with each other to have a photo with him and shake hands. Even being the first citizen of India, Mr. Kalam obliged their request.
The next day, Mr. Kalam visited MNR Medical College at Fasalwadi to inaugurate MNR Science Centre and also went to BVRIT and Vishnu Pharmaceutical and Research Centre at Narsapur. At both the place, he addressed students.
During all these visits, Mr. Kalam inspired students stating that they should dream big and reach their goal despite hardships.
On March 30, 2011, Mr. Kalam had visited the Indian Institute of Technology, Hyderabad (IIT-H) for its third Foundation Day celebrations.
Mr. Abdul Kalam told the students that there was a need to review the nuclear energy establishments in India in view of the natural catastrophe that shook Japan.
Responding to a question raised by a student, Dr. Kalam said that even today the nuclear energy is a clean energy. He said that nobody had till now designed nuclear energy establishment which could withstand higher intensity of earthquake and tsunami coming together.
“We can come out with flying colours by emerging victorious from the ongoing crisis being faced by Japan,” he said.
Dr. Kalam had suggested the faculty and students of the IIT-H to target and achieve uniqueness in five areas for future technologies with world-class standards.
Recalling his challenging experience as a student to design a low-level assault aircraft design, he said that the students should be imparted training in system design, integration and management which is a requirement at the field-level.
Suggesting the students not to get depressed by failures, he said that they need not compare themselves with others and instead grow and become ‘a unique you’.
