Following reports about a circular issued by Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital authorities last month, warning doctors of action if they handle VIP patients in a “casual way”, hospital officials maintained that this was done to “only sensitise the staff.”
The circular dated May 18 noted: “It has been observed that VIP reference has not been attended properly and handled in a very casual way by the doctors on duty at trauma centre and other emergency areas.”
VK Sinha, deputy Labour Welfare Commissioner and public relation officer at RML, said that the circular was issued to make resident doctors aware and to sensitise them regarding management of VIP references.
