Mills in Mandya to crush cane from August 1

Deputy Commissioner M.N. Ajay Nagabhushan has instructed sugar mills in the district to commence cane crushing activities to provide the much-needed succour to the distressed farming community.

He held a meeting with the officials of all five sugar mills to discuss the issue, according to a release from the Department of Information and Public Relations. The officials promised to commence the crushing activities soon. The Pandavapura Sahakara Sakkare Karkhane mill will start crushing activities on August 1, Coromandel Sugars Ltd. at K.R. Pet and NSL Sugars Ltd. at Koppa in Maddur on August 5, and Chamundeshwari Sugars at Kala Muddana Doddi in Maddur from August 20. However, the State-run Mysore Sugar Company Ltd. would commence crushing season from the second week of September following the repair of the machinery at the mill.
