NAGPUR:A Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) bus heading to Parbhani from Mor Bhavan in Sitabuldi had to disband its journey for a anti-sabotage check at Chhatrapati chowk on Tuesday after a bomb scare.
Sources said that three persons, so far unidentified, had boarded the bus near Rahate Colony Square with bags which they had kept on the rack over the passengers’ seat. Two of them got down at the traffic signal on Wardha Road near Nagpur central jail after paying Rs 300 to the one of their friends occupying the back seat.
The passengers started doubting the intent of the person left in the bus with three bags on the rack. They started grilling the third one who too jumped off the bus at Chhatrapati Square before fleeing.
The panicked passengers alerted the cops who summoned the bomb detection and disposal squad (BDDS). Crime branch personnel too reached the place. The bags were brought down from the bus. Liquor bottles were found inside them. A section of the cops felt that the liquor was being smuggled to Wardha.
Man, family members booked
Nagpur: A 30-year-old man and his family members gave poison to his wife at their Jafar Nagar residence on July 25, as a baby girl was born in their family. The victim identified as Zeba Khan, 25, is undergoing treatment at Mayo hospital. Police said that Zeba has been critical for the three days. So, she could not give proper statement to the police. However, on Monday evening, she filed a police complaint.
Based on the plaint, Gittikhadan police booked Zeba's husband,
Sohail, 30, in-laws Sariullah, 50, Rehana and sister-in-law Shayana Shaikh for dowry, domestic violence and attempt to murder charges.
Zeba told police that four months after her marriage, Sohail and his family members started torturing and harassing her for dowry. As she gave birth to a girl Sohail and his family started torturing her. On July 25, Sohail with his parents forced Khan to consume poison. She was immediately rushed to hospital by her neighbours. Police are yet to arrest any of the accused.
Cash, valuables worth Rs 3.15 lakh burgled
Nagpur: Cash of Rs 1.5 lakh and gold ornaments were burgled from Vivek Poddar's residence at Rajendra Nagar, MIDC on Tuesday morning. Poddar told MIDC police that he had gone to his shop and his wife had gone to her duty when thieves broke open the main door lock and made away with the cash and valuables. A case has been registered.
11-year-old girl alleges molestation
Nagpur: Hudkeshwar police have arrested 19-year-old Abhilash Borkar for allegedly stalking a minor girl and using indecent words. The complainant, 11, told police that Borkar has been following her for three months. On Monday afternoon, Borkar stopped her near her residence at used indecent words. The girl claimed that Borkar even misbehaved with her. Hence, the girl reported the matter to police.
