Security guard hacked dead by daughter’s ‘boyfriend’ in Davao City

A security guard was hacked to death by the 63-year-old boyfriend of his daughter in Davao City following a heated exchange on Sunday night.

The remains of Elano Mandabon were found in Barangay Sto. Niño, covered with banana leaves, GMA Davao reported Tuesday.

His body bore several hack wounds.

Police arrested the suspect identified as Bonifacio Abetria, 63, who denied the allegations. "Hindi ako ang tumaga sa kanya," he said.

Despite his denial, police said Abetria may face charges of murder.

An initial investigation showed Mandabon and Abetria had a drinking spree Sunday night, but then had an argument.

Barangay officials learned the suspect had kept the bladed weapon he used to hack the victim. The bloodstained clothes, believed worn by Abetria on the night of the killing, were found in his house.

— Joel Locsin/LBG, GMA News
