‘Won’t tolerate nationalized banks’ anti-farmer attitude’
Bhandara: If nationalized banks do not give crop loan and other loans under various state and central government schemes to farmers, then government funds deposited with these banks will be immediately withdrawn. Directions have been already issued to banks and if they fail to implement them, stern action will be taken, warned MP Nana Patole.
Patole, who was in Bhandara on Saturday, said the district central cooperative bank has very low deposit but still it gives maximum crop loan to farmers but nationalized banks neither extend crop loan to farmers nor behave with them courteously.
“Their anti-farmer attitude won’t be tolerated. Also, farmers are compelled to pay Rs10,000 for restructuring of loan when it is more than Rs one lakh and have to submit 13 certificates. The issue will be taken up with higher ups and farmers will be given financial relief,” he said.
Government has sanctioned Rs37 lakh for 1,800 farmers as crop insurance claim, but the amount is not deposited in banks. Patole said directions will be given to authorities concerned to deposit the amount as early as possible. Patole added that by 2016 every beneficiary will get a dwelling in Gharkul.
Sand excavation and transportation is a major business in the district. As per state government’s directives, district administration asks transporters to furnish bank guarantee when an overloaded truck is caught by revenue or police authorities. Transporters purchase truck by taking bank loan and it is nearly impossible for them to submit bank guarantee. “This is a serious matter and will be taken up with the mining minister and efforts will be made to withdraw it. District administration will be directed to deal with truck owners in humanitarian way,” said Patole.
Patole also said that the government will review the work of Forest Development Corporation of Maharashtra (FDCM) before transferring the forest in district to the corporation.
