Just when it seemed the 2016 presidential race couldn’t get any more crowded, or colorful, another oddball candidate has put in a bid for the White House — under the name Deez Nuts.

Mr. Nuts is running as an independent from Iowa and filed his candidacy Sunday with the Federal Election Committee.

The presidential campaign committee “Deez Nuts for President 2016” is registered in Wallingford, Iowa, the smallest hometown of all the presidential hopefuls with a population of 197.

Over 500 people have filed their 2016 candidacy with the FEC so far. Among the candidates, 80 are Democrats, 127 are Republicans, 135 independents and 12 libertarians. Fifteen candidates have not declared a party affiliation, while numerous others chose to write in their own.

At least one furry friend — a cat from Kentucky named Limberbutt McCubbins — has entered the race as well. His candidacy was filed by his owner, 17-year-old Isaac Weiss, CBS News reported
