KABUL - Ten security personnel and 67 militants have been killed and 36 others wounded in the past two days in different incidents of violence across the country, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) said on Tuesday.

The insurgents were killed and wounded in separate clearing operations in Paktia, Kandahar, Uruzgan, Herat, Farah, Nimroz, Faryab, Badakhshan, Helmand, Faryab, Kunduz and Maidan Wardak provinces.

Dawlat Waziri, MoD deputy spokesman, told reporters the Faryab operation, in which Taliban’s shadow governor was killed, was a success. He said 10 Afghan National Army (ANA) soldiers were also been killed in clashes.

He said in the past 24 hours Afghan Air Force carried out 72 airstrikes in which militants hideouts and strongholds had been targeted.

Waziri said a delegation of the ministry left for Pakistan today to discuss border issues and rocket attacks in border areas. He added the delegates would discuss with their counterparts the movement of insurgents across the Durand Line. (Pajhwok)
