Vice-chairperson of the Uttarakhand Safai Karamchari Ayog AK Sikandar today said the state government was committed to the welfare of sanitation workers.
He was addressing sanitation union representatives and district administrative officials at the Dakmoti state guesthouse.
Sikandar said the state government, led by Harish Rawat, was serious over the issues and demands of sanitation employees. He said municipal bodies had been asked to provide land for the construction of a housing complex for them. He said Chief Minister Harish Rawat had promised to speed up land allocation process for the purpose.
Sikandar directed officials to hold health camps for sanitation employees on a regular basis, besides ensuring timely disbursal of their salaries.
Sikandar said the workers should be provided with safety equipment like mask, gloves, uniform and other accessories.
With the Kanwar fair beginning in Haridwar on August 1, Sikandar said adequate sanitation workers be deployed in the Kanwar mela zone and other important stretches.
Meanwhile, sanitation union representatives apprised him of the delay in the reinstatement of 45 contractual sanitation employees.
