Premalatha's husband seeks police protection

Last Updated 28 July 2015, 20:38 IST

Diwakar Shastri, husband of Premalatha who has lodged a rape complaint against Ramachandrapura Mutt seer Raghaveshwara Bharati, submitted a memorandum to Additional Superintendent of Police Vishnuvardhan on Tuesday, urging police protection for his family.

In the memorandum addressed to the Superintendent of Police, he said the seer and his disciples had been insulting his family members, including his wife. The disciples are conspiring to tarnish their image and harassing them mentally by posting ‘insensitive’ remarks against his wife and children on Facebook, the complaint says. Besides, they have lodged baseless complaints against his family. A complaint has been lodged against members of the Havyaka community who stood by his wife and against the book titled ‘Satya Sangati’, that throws light on the truth pertaining to the case in Hosanagar, Shastri’s complaint says.

“Police are harassing those backing his wife, in the name of investigation. As part of the investigation, Premalatha is being taken to houses of various disciples by the CID team. But the disciples are rebuking his wife and forcing her to withdraw complaint,” says Shastri’s complaint. All these developments have hurt his family members. Considering this, the police should provide protection to his family, Shastri has urged.
