Top cop’s alert against thefts in the time of Kumbh Mela

The police commissionerate has alerted people against thieves targeting cars during Kumbh Mela as more vehicles would be visiting to the city. Fearing that the thieves would try to make the most of the opportunity during the relegious congregation commissioner of police S Jaganathan has appealed to the people in general to take care of their own belongings.

NASHIK: The police commissionerate has alerted people against thieves targeting cars during Kumbh Mela as more vehicles would be visiting to the city. Fearing that the thieves would try to make the most of the opportunity during the relegious congregation commissioner of police S Jaganathan has appealed to the people in general to take care of their own belongings.

This comes in the wake of the recent car thefts in the city. On July 24, the Bhadrakali police registered a case of theft of cash and valuables worth Rs 24, 000 . The police said that the incident took place on July 23 around 8pm near Urdu school when the valuables were stolen from a from a two wheeler parked outside a milk centre.
On July 20, the Sarkarwada police station had registered theft of valuables worth Rs 72, 000. This time too, the valuables were stolent from a car parked outside a shopping complex
The same day, in the Sarkarwada area, Rs 50, 000 in cash and valuables worth Rs 65, 000 were stolen from a car parked outside a co-operative bank at Ashok stambh.
Jaganathan said in all these cases, the drivers of the cars were found loitering nearby. “We appeal to the owners and drivers to keep the doors of the cars manually locked while seating inside the vehicles when parked to avoid such losses. During Kumbh, a large number of vehicles from outside the city arrive in Nashik and the criminals might try to target those.”
