NASHIK: The Railway Protection Force has drawn up plans to segregate the crowd and direct them to their destinations using colour-coded tickets. The coloured tickets would make it easy identification and movement of the passengers and ensure order in the enclosed areas at Nashik Road Railway station.
Divisional safety commissioner Chandramohan Mishra said, “The railways will use colour code to help people during their return journeys after the shahi snan.
The colour codes are being used for easy identification and grouping pilgrims. Similarly, there is a thought of issuing colour-coded tickets to help the passengers identify the trains heading for their destinations.”
The move would help the pilgrims, security guards and rail officials understand the system easily. The coloured tickets, if and when finalised by the senior railway officials, will be issued at the booking centres stationed in the public areas.
Besides, the colour code will help identify the people in the crowd and their destination. They will be guided accordingly to the railway station for the return journey. The crowd segregation on colour code basis was tried in Allahabad successfully.
The railways has identified Orange colour for people heading to the East, Yellow for North-bound traffic and Blue for the South (Daund and Aurangabad-bound traffic). Since the colour theme will be maintained, it will also be easier for the pilgrims to reach the destinations.
The officer also pointed out that the holding areas at Odha and Devlali railway stations would also be prepared. “There are huge open areas outside both the stations – around 5 km from Nashik Road railway station on either side. The holding areas in the open space will be kept ready just in case there is a decision to allow the trains from these stations,” the officer said.
