Five directors act in Anarkali
Renowned writer Sachy might be just launching himself as a director through the Prithviraj-starrer Anarkali.
But the debutant has managed to rope in five established movie makers of the industry to come in front of the camera right in his first project! Filmmakers Shyamaprasad, Renji Panicker, V K Prakash, Major Ravi and Madhupal play key roles in the film.
The director says, “It happened by coincidence. All I aimed at was casting fresh but talented faces into these roles but the search ended with each of the directors taking up the respective characters.”
Shyamaprasad plays Commodore Madhavan Nair, a navy officer and so does Major Ravi, whose character is named Captain Rajan Jose. “Both of them would be appearing mostly in uniforms, though Shyamaprasad will slip into a kurta-pyjama look in a qawwali song sequence,” says Sachy.
Renji Panicker enacts Pappettan, a commoner from a village, who is not well-educated. “He sports a mundu-shirt look, and his character often moves around in a motorbike,” Sachy says. V K Prakash is cast as clinical psychologist while Madhupal plays Prithviraj’s sister’s husband.
Quiz Sachy about his experience in directing the ‘directors’ and he says, “I am working with all of them for the first time but knew them all personally. Shyamaprasad sir is the only person whom I didn’t know before this project. But after I contacted him and presented the story and his sequences, he agreed to join the crew.” The film, which is also scripted by the director, has Prithviraj, Biju Menon, Kabir Bedi, Miya George, Priyal Gor and Rajeev Menon also among its cast.
