After failing to spot a weapon being carried into their premises, the management of R City Mall, Ghatkopar, and a private security agency were booked by the Mumbai Police on Monday.
According to the police, a decoy officer carrying a gun was sent to the mall on Monday evening, but the security guards were unable to detect the weapon.
Rajendra Kulkarni, senior inspector with the Parksite police, said, “An officer entered the mall with a concealed weapon and since he was not stopped, he informed the management of the mall about the negligence.”
The police have registered a case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code. “R City has large footfalls and they should be taking precautions. We had notified them earlier. Two security officials were arrested and later released on bail,” said Vinaykumar Rathod, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone VII).
