A motorist who posted a video of himself laughing hysterically as a fire extinguisher was let off in the ar he was driving has been jailed.

Charlie Jones (21) posted the clip on Facebook with the title 'CLASSIC NEARLY DIED TWICE' as it showed the extinguisher being let off in his Vauxhall Astra.

The 21-year-old was driving the car through Peacehaven, East Sussex, when his passenger repeatedly triggered the extinguisher to howls of laughter in August 2014.

Mr Jones, who was also filming the stunt with him mobile phone, can be heard laughing "I can't see, I can't see" on the clip.

A member of the public saw the video and reported it to police, who tracked down and arrested the driver.

A jury found Jones guilty and he was jailed for ten weeks.

He was also banned for driving for 18 months and ordered to pay £1,000 in costs.

“Jones accepts that he was stupid but did not accept that his driving was dangerous,’ said PC Anna Batchelor.

“A jury thought otherwise and found him guilty of the offence. What Jones did was reckless and could have had serious consequences.”
