At the competition on Hen mountain the winner of the men's Poc Fada, Patrick McKillion, received a skiing holiday while McGourty only received a medal for winning the women's equivalent.
Ulster camogie chiefs explained afterwards that the men’s prize was organized by the GAA along with two sponsors.
This afternoon they issued a statement on the Ulster Camogie website.
The statement read: “Ulster Camogie would like to place on record its regret and disappointment with the recent adverse coverage surrounding the 2015 Ulster Poc Fada Competition.
“This coverage served to reflect unfairly on the strong and positive relationship between both Ulster Camogie and Ulster GAA and detracted significantly from the shared achievements of both organisations, including their joint approach to the Poc Fada competition.
“Ulster Camogie Council enjoy a strong and mutually beneficial relationship with Ulster GAA working in close partnership on the promotion and development of Gaelic Games across the province.”
The statement did not make any reference to the disparity between the men’s and women’s prizes, nor did it address the accusations of sexism that were raised in the aftermath of the competition.
The statement closed by saying: “Ulster Camogie looks forward to working closely with Ulster GAA, now, and into the future”.
The statement has not been well received online, with frustration expressed at their failure to address the issues involved.
