Commuters, especially students, were getting injured almost everyday due to the poor state of the roads.

“Two and half years back sewage pipes were laid in the area and same passage leads to all five colonies. Since then roads have not been laid and it becomes impossible to walk or cross on this road without getting injured. Our councilor from Akali Dal claims that nothing is in her hands. So we decided to invite Modi and other officials to visit and have a glimpse of ‘smart city’,” Gaurav Kumar, one of the residents, told The Indian Express.

Festive offer

The idea to invite PM Modi was proposed by “Masterji” who runs a small school in the area, said Gaurav.

Mayor Harcharan Singh Gohalwaria, however, said that budget estimates have been made and construction of road would begin anytime soon now.
