Strict security arrangements at 10, Rajaji Marg, as people pay tributes to Dr Kalam

New Delhi, Jul 28 (UNI) Strict security arrangements and traffic arrangements were made outside former President Abdul Kalam’s residence at 10, Rajaji Marg today, which was thronged by VIPs and public to pay homage to the departed leader. Police sources said the security was kept tight to avoid any inconvenience to the people who had come to pay tributes to their idol. School and college students were seen in queues outside the People's President's residence. While the VIPs paid homage to the departed leader from 1330 hrs to 1530 hrs, the general public was allowed to pay homage to the former Head of State from 1530 hrs to 2200 hrs. The body of Dr Kalam, who died of cardiac arrest while delivering a lecture at IIM Shillong last evening, was flown by a special helicopter to Guwahati this morning. From Guwahati, a special plane flew the mortal remains of Dr Kalam to Delhi. The former President's body was taken in a gun carriage from Palam airport to his residence. The last rites will take place at Rameswaram, the home town of Dr Kalam in Tamil Nadu. UNI SM AE SB 1549
