Barnett does not support quota for women

Premier Colin Barnett says he does not support a quota to boost the number of female Liberal MPs.

Labor voted on the weekend at its national conference to ensure women hold half of its positions within the next 10 years.

Mr Barnett conceded it was often difficult for women to enter politics, particularly if they had young children, but said the gender divide in state parliament would diminish with each election.
