In yet another revelation regarding the alleged misdeeds of disputed social activist Teesta Setalvad, who is facing a probe for her alleged misappropriation of funds meant for Gujarat riot victims, the crime branch of Ahmedabad police during investigation has found glaring evidences that her NGO Sabrang Trust has paid air tickets, food, local taxi and other expenses to activists John Dayal, Harsh Mander and these expenses were debited to secular education account of the trust.

John Dayal, Secretary-General of the All India Christian Council and a past president of the All India Catholic Union .and Harsh Mander are now strongly supporting Teesta in the misappropriation of funds case. Yesterday Mr. Mander, a former IAS and Director, Centre for Equity Studies had alleged that Teesta was being hounded by Gujarat government for her support to riot victims.

Showing such vouchers Crime Branch Sources today said just few months vouchers of Sabrang Trust shows that these people were regularly getting payment from it. Voucher no-223 of 02.01.2013 of Sabrang Trust FCRA shows that Rs 1500 has been received by Mr Dayal himself towards reimbursement of airport transfer expenses from Delhi and Mumbai.

Another voucher of 21.01.13 shows that he was paid Rs 1500 for pocket expenses of three guests including himself and Mr Mander, the sources said adding payment ledger of the trust shows that an amount of Rs 11,579 was paid to Teesta Setalvad towards reimbursement of air tickets booked for Mr. Dayal from Delhi to Mumbai. All the payment vouchers were also approved by her her husband and partner Javed Anand.

The sources said that from these payments it is proved beyond doubt that Mr. Dayal and Mr. Mander were paid by her in the past. This is a glaring example of how the trust funds meant for riot victims were misused by Teesta to garner support for her.

Teesta, who was facing an imminent arrest in the case, has obtained a two week interim stay from Mumbai high court following the rejection of immunity from arrest by a CBI court.
