When Libby-Tucker Spiers saw the side effects of her friend Aiden's chemotherapy, she decided to sacrifice her prized possession just for him.

The nine-year-old from England, who according to her mother idolises Rapunzel, decided to cut off her hair in solidarity for her friend, 7, who is undergoing cancer treatment.

“I'm so proud of her," mum Charlie Spiers told ABC News in the US. "She's got so much going on herself with her own learning difficulties. She's just selfless. She's an amazing little girl, but Aiden is just as amazing. He's so brave."

Libby and Aiden, who has Wilms' tumour, a form of kidney cancer, have been friends for most of their lives and even say they are boyfriend and girlfriend. "On Valentine's Day they got each other cards and everything," Spiers said.

She says that Libby was deeply moved when she saw Aiden had lost his hair, which is why she decided to donate hers. "She said, 'I want to give Aiden my hair,'" Libby's mother, Charlie Spiers, told ABC News. "I said, 'You can't.' and she said, 'But I want to, I miss his lovely hair.'"

Although Aiden wasn't interested in wearing a wig, Libby donated her long hair to the Little Princess Trust, a charity which provides real hair wigs to children who have lost their hair to chemotherapy.

Aiden's chemo treatment doesn't finish until December, but Libby is already planning a celebration. She's currently raising funds for Aiden's end of chemo party, and hopefully a trip to Disneyland.
