An alert has been sounded in Uttar Pradesh in view of Monday’s terror attack in Punjab, with the security agencies directed to maintain strict vigil in all the districts. Chief Secretary Alok Ranjan said the District Magistrates and senior police officials have been asked to keep a strict watch at all the sensitive points and on suspect elements.

The Chief Secretary, who conducted a video conference with the senior officials on Monday, said directives had been issued for intensive police patrolling at sensitive places.

On whether a specific alert had been issued by the Central government, Principal Secretary (Home) Debashish Panda said there were no such alerts but the government had issued a general advisory to the officials.
