July 28, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:47 am IST - Mandya:

Members of the Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha (KRRS) staged a protest here on Monday against Union Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan Singh for his alleged remarks over farmers’ suicides in the State.

Under the leadership of K.S. Puttannaiah, Melkote MLA, the protesters blocked the vehicular traffic on Bengaluru-Mysuru highway for a while and criticised Mr. Singh for his remarks.

The Union Minister had insulted the farmers by attributing the suicides to dowry, love affair and impotency. Prime Minister Narendra Modi should immediately take appropriate action against Mr. Singh, who was as an “insensitive Minister” by Mr. Puttannaiah.

Mr. Puttannaiah described Mr. Modi as “murderer of farmers” and Mr. Singh “an impotent”.

The Prime Minister should expel Mr. Singh from his Cabinet and the Union Minister should apologise for his controversial remarks over farmers’ suicides, the farmers demanded.

Haniyambadi Nagarju, Raje Gowda, Shambhunahalli Suresh, Sidde Gowda, Somashekar, Chandru, Shivalingaiah and others were present.
